No Obstacle for Developing Cooperation Between Iran and Azerbaijan, Important Economic and Security Decisions to Be Taken in the Presidents’ Meeting

Iranian ambassador in Azerbaijan stating that Tehran-Baku relations are strategic said, “Thanks to the friendship of the two countries’ presidents and in their regular meetings, important decisions have been taken about economy and security cooperation, especially countering terrorism.”

According to Caspian International News Agency, Iran’s president is going to visit Baku to attend the trilateral meeting of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia. Rouhani and Ilham Aliyev have met six times in the past three years and this indicates the importance of the two parties in the development of bilateral and regional relations.

Mohsen Pak-Aeen, the Iranian ambassador in Baku, believes that important economic and security decisions have been taken in these meetings.

He estimates the oil and non-oil trade volume between Iran and Azerbaijan to be more than $1.5 billion and said, “More than one million Azerbaijani nationals travel to Iran annually and the problem with the visa for Iranian nationals is going to be solved in the next two months.”

The Iranian ambassador in Baku, referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s potential for solving the Karabakh conflict and stated that defending the neighboring countries, territorial integrity and cooperating the neighbors are Iran’s clear policies.
