According to Caspian International News Agency, Behdad Salimi, the Mazandarani weightlifter couldn’t win his second Olympic gold.
Salim competed with 10 weightlifters from Georgia (2), Armenia (2), Estonia, Germany, Brazil, Egypt, Czech, and Turkmenistan in the +105kg category and finished in the first place at the end of snatch lifts.
Behdad had chosen the 205kg for his first lift and successfully snatched the 211kg as his second lift.
The Georgian rival of Salimi managed to break Salimi’s world record and Rezazadeh’s snatch record at Olympics by lifting the 215kg, but one minute later, Salimi successfully lifted the 216kg and became the record holder again.
In the first clean and jerk move, Salimi couldn’t lift the 245kg. In the second move, he managed to lift it but in spite of three white lights by the judges, the jury didn’t approve the attempt.
For the third time he made an attempt at the 245kg but he was unsuccessful and lost the medal in disbelief.
In the end, Talakhadze from Georgia both won the gold and broke the world total and clean and jerk record with his 258kg lift.
