Caspian International News Agency– The Free Syrian Army, strongly supported by Turkey’s special forces and fighter jets, and backed by anti-Islamic State coalition, managed to drive ISIS out of Jarabulus. This made many ISIS militants flee to Raqqa and al-Bab.
The Syrian opposition, supported by Turkey, managed to take control of Jarablus in just 12 hours. Ahmad Othman, one of the commanders of the Sultan Mourad unit, said to AFP, “Jarablus has been totally liberated”.
The Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement terrorist group, attached to the Free Syrian Army, has said that ISIS had retreated to al-Bab.
In this regard, the Syrian observatory for human rights’ Rami Abdulrahman said, “There was no resistance from the ISIS in Jarabulus, and the city was easily taken by Syrian opposition.”
After that ISIS lost Jarabulus and this city was taken over by forces supported by Turkey, the Syrian opposition coalition asked the Free Army groups to provide the requirements for returning the refugees.
In the past few days, ISIS has witnessed several damages in its under-control cities in east of Syria. Losing Jarabulus is the greatest strategic defeat of ISIS, because this region had turned into a pathway for those who wished to join ISIS.
