Caspian International News Agency, Astara- Mohammad Ali Najafi, visiting the Astara-Azerbaijan railway project, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the project and said, “Some agreements had been made in the joint commission, which are being conducted one by one.
He added, “One of the agreements was about the 8300 meter railway from Azerbaijan to Iran’s border, which according to the contractor’s report today, 70 percent of it is complete.”
He noted that the other project is building a bridge between Iran and Azerbaijan, and said, “they have agreed to build the bridge themselves but the costs will be paid jointly. This project is more than 70 percent complete too and it seems that it will be opened sooner than expected.
Najafi also said, “Thank to the government of prudence and hope, and the president’s emphasis, people of Gilan are witnessing what they had been waiting for, many years. In a few meetings between Dr. Rouhani and Ilham Aliyev, the rail network between the two countries was discussed and we are happy to announce that finally it’s happening.
