Caspian International News Agency– Today afternoon, Nicholas Hopton, the new British ambassador to Tehran, presented his credentials to Zarif, in Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nicholas Hopton, previously the British charge d’affaires in Tehran, and who had been also in charge of British embassies in Qatar and Yemen, met with Iran’s foreign minister today, and presented his credentials as the new ambassador of this country after 5 years of suspended relations between Tehran and London.
An informed source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, “It’s more than one year that Iranian and British embassies have been active and all of the affairs were being guided by the charge d’affaires of the two countries. Now, following the fulfillment of conditions to promote relations, the two countries decided to send their ambassadors.”
He also stressed that the improvement of the relations does not imply that all the issues have been resolved, and Islamic Republic of Iran will still express its bilateral or other views explicitly.
Nicholas Hopton, previously the British charge d’affaires in Tehran, had been also in charge of British embassies in Qatar and Yemen before.
