Caspian International News Agency– Approving the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA) by US Congress, and the Congress’ overriding Barack Obama’s veto have met with many reactions. Saudi media have discussed and analyzed this issue.
Al Arabia has discussed the relationship between this bill and the JCPOA; and in an article by the name of “reward to Iran and sanctioning Saudi Arabia” has tried to introduce Tehran as the supporter of terrorism and Riyadh as innocent of these accusations.
In this article, we read:
Even a year ago, few expected the weird prospect of Washington taking two important decisions that go against the US policies of the past 40 years. Rewarding Iran through the JCPOA nuclear agreement, that saves the later from sanctions, and allowing Sept. 11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia through Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), were probably both unthinkable.
According to this bill by US Congress, which is called JASTA, victims of the events of September 11, can sue Saudi Arabia, and receive compensation.
