Caspian International News Agency, Rasht– Today morning in the opening ceremony of the 12th book fair of Gilan, Seyed Abbas Salehi said, “Gilan province has a rich history in developing the culture of Shi’ism, and Gilan is the cradle of Shi’ism in Iran.
Stating that Gilan has had important roles in contemporary scenes, he said, “Gilan has been the cradle of modernity in Iran due to a number of advantages.”
The deputy minister of culture and Islamic guidance added, “Gilan and Azerbaijan were the two communication gateways with other countries, so the progress of literacy and culture growth had started sooner in Gilan.”
He added, “Other provinces have ethnic and tribal context, but Gilan wasn’t tribal and this led to its progress and development.”
Salehi refereed to the existence of written publications and printing offices, and said, “Publishing and press in Gilan dates back to 150 years ago. Press like Kheir-al-kalam, and Nasim-e-shomal are rich background for the culture of this province.”
He added, “in 1394, 51 Gilani publications published various books, and Farhange Ilia, with 53 books is among the selected publishers.”
Salehi noted, “Gilan has a rich culture, and in addition to Gilaki literature, has many valuable works in Persian literature.”
