Russia Deploys Anti-missile System in Syria

Caspian International News Agency– For the first time since its military presence in Syria, Russia has deployed an anti-missile system in this country.

This act shows that Russia is still trying to help Bashar al-Assad, the president of Syria

Deploying this anti-missile system was done a few days after Washington and Moscow stopped all bilateral cooperation in Syria.

US officials have told Fox News that this new missile system has the ability to target US cruise missiles and repeling their attacks.

The Gladiator anti-aircraft and anti-missile system has been deployed in Mediterranean town of Tartus, Syria.

US, Syrian, and Russian officials held discussions for enforcing a ceasefire between Syrian opposition and the Syrian government. However, some attacks caused the ceasefire to break, and Moscow decided to employ new tactics for helping Syrian government.

Last week, Russia started sending fighter jets and long-range bombers to Syria for attacking the Syrian opposition.
