Caspian International News Agency– Using radiocarbon dating, archeologists confirmed that the oldest clothing in the world dates back to 5000 years ago.

Investigations and tests done on a small sample of this ancient Egyptian dress showed that this piece of clothing, which was discovered in the ancient graveyard of “Tarkhan” in the South of Cairo, was actually made between 3484 to 3012 B.C.
The size of this dress shows that it belonged to a teenage girl or a very thin woman, and it was used before cremating.

According to Society for American Archaeology, Alice Stevenson, the curator of Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology at University College London has said, “The survival of a delicate and vulnerable tissue is exceptional in archeology, and the complete or nearly complete survival of the dress discovered in Tarkhan graveyard, is even more remarkable. We have always doubted that this dress belonged to the first ancient Egyptian dynasty, but we couldn’t confirm it, because the tests before radiocarbon dating meant serious damage to the dress.”
