Caspian International News Agency– The head of the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry has announced, “Based on a new agreement between Tehran and Moscow, from now on, tourist groups of 5 to 50 people, who want to travel between the two countries, won’t need a visa for 15 days.
Sputnik quoated Maya Lomidze, the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia:
“According to the agreement, tour groups of at least five people may travel from Russia to Iran and vice versa without having to receive a visa for the entire group. Similar to the agreement with China, only a limited number of travel agencies will be able to offer such tours, and all such companies will have to be verified by both sides. I hope that this process will be as democratic as possible, because any simplification of the visa regime and further liberalization will help increase the tourist flow between the two countries,”
She has also stated that the number of Iranian tourists to Russia has been increasing in the last two years, and this agreement will improve this trend.”.
As she said, thanks to direct flights to Saint Petersburg, Moscow, and Sochi, Iranian tourist flow has increased by 50 to 70 percents which shows the interest of Iranian tourists in Russia.
It is expected that Iran and Russia visa waiver will be implemented since 2017.
