Babak Zanjani’s Death Sentence Upheld in the Supreme Court

Caspian International News Agency– Dr. Gholamreza Ansari, the deputy of supervision of the Supreme Court has announced that the death sentence of Babak Zanjani has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

The death sentence of Mehdi Shams and Hamid Fallah Heravi, the second and third defendants  have been sent to a parallel court.

On January 2014, the spokesman of the Judiciary announced the conviction of Babak Zanjani and said, “the case of Babak Zanjani is  2000 pages and every page of it should be studied, thus it takes time to be upheld”.

On March 6, 2016 this case’s sentence was announced and Babak Zanjani, Mehdi Shams, and Hamid Fallah, all three defendants of the oil corruption case were sentenced to death, property seizing, and a fine equivalent to one fourth of the money laundering.
