Caspian International News Agency– Sputnik has reported that Russian chemists, in collaboration with Chinese researchers, have been able to reduce the costs of producing gold by 40 percent in their new method.
Vadim Tarasov, a professor at MISIS University, said, “More efficient technologies have existed before, which can extract all gold particles, but the costs are high, and using those technologies is not profitable. However, using this new technology, we can extract by 90 percent of the gold from ore, which is a standard level.
Unlike what people believe about gold extracting methods, today, most of this valuable stone is produced in laboratories by chemical processing of copper which contain gold, not in the forms of nuggets or gold dust.
In the traditional method, metal is directly extracted from the ore with the help of water and cyanide acid.
In this method all the gold can be extracted but the process is too slow and expensive, taking at least 120 hours, and the 30 gram gold produced in this method costs nearly $800.
However, in this new method, Russian researchers use ammonia compounds which makes this process eight times faster than the traditional method, and the produced gold has higher purity.
This new method is now being practiced in Tajikistan and Russia’s gold mines.
